Featured Presentation: Healthy Building Case Study
Alex Stadtner, MS, CIEC, LEED, WELL, BBEC, IBE board member (since 2016) is founder, president, and senior consultant of Healthy Building Science, Inc, headquartered in San Francisco, CA. His path toward environmental work began at Antioch College in Ohio, where he earned a degree in Environmental Science & Environmental Policy. After completing undergraduate studies he worked for two years as the College’s first Sustainability Manager. He attended Antioch New England Graduate School in New Hampshire and earned a Masters of Science (MS) in Resource Management & Administration. Throughout his time at Antioch he had practicums working with green building consulting companies, architects, natural builders, solar installers and the California EPA.
After graduate school, he worked with green building consulting pioneers at the Center for Maximum Potential Building Systems in Austin, TX, and then a Portland-based company specializing in third-party building rating systems, especially LEED and Green Guide for Health Care for hospitals. There he project managed over 30 large commercial and high-rise residential green building projects. Alex holds a long list of credentials including Building Biology Environmental Consultant, LEED Accredited Professional, WELL Accredited Professional, Certified Indoor Environmental Consultant, and Healthy Homes Specialist.
Since 2009 Alex has been a practicing Building Biologist specializing in both inspections and design and construction consulting. Healthy Building Science has grown to 12 people, and has served low-income families and Fortune 100s with the same level of service. Alex remains committed to the "triple bottom line," and Healthy Building Science is a California Benefit Corporation and Certified B Corp. By bridging the gap between environmental science and building science, his company achieves its mission to "help people make healthy buildings."
