Do I need special training or a special degree to qualify for your certification tracks? Our only requirement is your desire to learn about the indoor environment and creating healthier homes and commercial buildings. Our alumni and students range in age from 17 to 84, and come from all walks of life and education levels.

Are there discounts available for paying the entire certification tuition in advance? Yes, we offer a considerable discount for professional certification program tuition (BBEC, EMRS) when paid entirely in advance. Please see the individual program pages on this website for further details.

If I decide to get certified, how long does it take? We allow up to one year to complete your studies for Building Biology Practitioner (BBP); many students finish in far less time, but we encourage you to work at your own pace and convenience. We allow up to two years to complete your studies for Building Biology Environmental Consultant (BBEC); many students finish in a year to a year and a half. For either BBP or BBEC, we grant extensions of their time window on a case by case basis.

Can I complete my certification entirely from home? Yes, if you pursue certification as a Building Biology Practitioner (BBP); the BBP curriculum consists of a mentored correspondence course and several online courses. However, to become certified as a Building Biology Environmental Consultant (BBEC), you will be required to attend three one-week seminars as part of your training, in addition to home-study courses.

What about your seminars? Will I be lost on the first day? You will enter the first day of our seminars fully prepared, having successfully completed online courses that provide you with a solid foundational grasp of the seminar material.

So I get certified, then what? Can I use what I've learned to start a business? Our certified alumni have gone on to launch new businesses, or to augment their existing business model with new services, reaching a broader environmentally-conscious client base. Many have expanded their reach into public speaking, and into providing consultative support for professionals in fields as divergent as health care, architecture and interior design, landscaping, and feng shui.
