Institut für Baubiologie + Okolgie Neubeuern (IBN) is the wellspring of study and research from which the Principles of Building Biology & Ecology were first presented to the world. Founded by Anton Schneider, Ph.D in 1983, IBN authorized one of its earliest graduates, our founder Helmut Ziehe, to establish IBE in Clearwater, Florida in 1986. IBE's inaugural curriculum, developed by Dr. Schneider, was translated into English by Helmut Ziehe and Katharina Gustavs, of Rainbow Consulting, British Columbia, Canada.

New Zealand Building Biology & Ecology Institute is our partner both in mission and in history. BBE New Zealand was established in 1990 by Reinhard Kanuka-Fuchs, a close associate of our founder Helmut Ziehe. BBE promotes the Principles of Ecological Building & Design through workshops, courses, and seminars provided in association with Aoraki Polytchnic Institute, in Christchurch, New Zealand.
